Breaking 80
A 30-Minute Breaking 80 Session Plan
Sharpen a focused practice block with wedges, approach targets, short-game pressure, and putting closure.

Make every minute count
A golfer chasing 79 doesn’t need a casual bucket. The session should pressure your scoring clubs and reveal whether your plan is ready for the course.
| Time | Task | Standard |
|---|---|---|
| 6 min | Wedge carries | Land within a chosen window |
| 8 min | Approach targets | Safe miss named before swing |
| 8 min | Up-and-down game | One ball, full routine |
| 5 min | Lag putting | Inside three feet |
| 3 min | Four-footers | Finish without rushing |
Add a rule
You only get one ball per target. If you miss, move on and record it. That small constraint changes the feel of practice because it removes the comfort of immediate correction.
What to learn
Notice which shots fail under pressure. If 80-yard wedges keep flying long, your next session has a theme. If approaches miss on the short side, your target selection needs work as much as your swing.
