On a conventional single-setting hosel, adding loft also closes the face — you cannot separate the two. FutureFit33 lets a fitter add loft while leaving face angle alone, or change face angle without disturbing loft.

For a golfer who needs more launch but already draws the ball, that distinction is worth a great deal.

The OPTM weights

Several OPTM heads carry adjustable weighting. LS and X allow genuine repositioning; MAX-D’s heel bias is fixed by design.

Two things to know. Movable weight changes shot shape bias, not launch height — that is the hosel’s job. And weight adjustment refines a head that already suits you; it does not convert one head into another.

The specifications that decide everything

Roughly in order of impact:

Length. Determines where on the face you strike. Nothing compensates for this being wrong.

Lie angle. Determines start direction, and the effect grows with loft.

Shaft weight. Affects tempo and consistency more than flex does.

Shaft flex and profile. Affects launch, spin and feel.

Grip size. Influences how freely your hands rotate through impact.

Head model. Important, but genuinely less decisive than the five above.

Golfers reverse this list almost universally, choosing the head first and treating everything else as detail.

Lie angle deserves its own paragraph

An iron too upright sends the ball left; too flat sends it right. The effect is small in a 4-iron and large in a wedge.

A lie board and impact tape reveal this in four swings. If you have never had it checked, it is the highest-value hour available to you.

The One Length fitting difference

One Length changes the fitting conversation substantially. Because every iron is the same length and lie, the fitter is setting one specification for the whole set rather than a progression.

That makes the fitting simpler and the stakes higher. Get the single length wrong and it is wrong in fourteen places rather than one.

What to bring

Bring your current clubs so the fitter has a baseline. Bring the ball you play. And be honest about how often you practise — a specification suited to someone playing three times a week may not suit someone playing twice a month.

Fitting tip: Have lofts and lies checked annually even if you change nothing. They drift with use, and drifted wedges are the usual reason short irons start missing left.

Model names current as of September 2026.

",434
building-a-cobra-wedge-setup-for-your-course","Building a Cobra Wedge Setup for Your Course
cobra-vs-the-premium-brands-what-you-give-up-and-what-you-don-t","Cobra vs the Premium Brands: What You Give Up and What You Don't",1788299816317]
