Signs it’s time

You don’t need new sunglasses every season, but you do need to notice when it stops helping. Scratched lenses that catch light, nose pads that no longer stay in place, or a tint that reads contours less clearly than it once did all signal it’s time to reassess. When you squint, tilt your head, or adjust your address to work around the frame or lens, the glasses have become part of the problem.

Ask yourself:

  • Do the lenses still read green contours as cleanly as when I first bought them?
  • Has the frame fit changed enough that I notice it during address?
  • Would a different tint suit the courses and light conditions I play most this season?

Upgrade with a purpose

Replace sunglasses when you can state the specific optical or fit problem the current pair creates, not just because a new model looks better. “Better brand” is not a reason. “Reads grain on subtle greens without distorting depth on chips” is.
