Choosing a PXG Driver Loft and Setting
Adjustability only helps if you know what you are adjusting toward.

Most golfers play too little loft
The instinct is that less loft means more distance. For the great majority of club golfers the opposite is true. Insufficient loft produces a low launch and high spin, which is the worst combination — the ball climbs, stalls and drops out of the sky.
More loft raises launch and reduces spin. That is why so many golfers gain distance by moving from a 9-degree head to a 10.5.
The numbers to target
Launch angle and spin are what you are fitting for, not loft. A slower swing generally wants high launch and moderate spin. A faster swing wants a lower launch with low spin.
The loft on the hosel is just the dial you turn to get there, and the head model sets how much spin you start with.
Using the adjustable hosel properly
Changing loft on an adjustable hosel also changes the face angle and the lie slightly. Adding loft tends to close the face a little, which for a golfer who slices is a bonus and for a golfer who hooks is a problem.
Make one change at a time and hit at least ten balls before judging. Driver dispersion is wide enough that three shots tell you nothing.
Weight settings
Where a head offers movable weight, understand what each position does before moving anything. Weight toward the heel promotes a draw, toward the toe a fade, back for higher launch and more forgiveness, forward for lower spin.
Golfers routinely set weights based on the shot they wish they hit rather than the one they hit.
Do not change settings during a round
Adjust on the range, confirm across a full session, then leave it alone. Mid-round changes are guesswork made under pressure.
The shaft is not a setting
If the driver is not doing what you want after honest testing across settings, the answer is usually the shaft or the head, not another eighth of a turn on the hosel.
Fitting tip: Try one loft setting higher than you think you need. A meaningful number of golfers gain both distance and accuracy from it and would never have tried it unprompted.
