Wilson Golf Clubs
Why Wilson Is Better Than Its Reputation
More majors than most, less marketing than anyone, and clubs priced accordingly.

The heritage is real
Wilson equipment has won more major championships than the great majority of brands currently on the market. That is not a marketing line — it is a long historical record from an era when Wilson was the dominant name in golf.
The brand faded from the front of golfers’ minds not because the clubs got worse but because rivals started spending enormous sums on tour contracts and advertising, and Wilson did not.
What that means when you buy
You are buying engineering rather than endorsement. A Staff Model CB is a properly made forged cavity back that competes directly with anything at its price, and it usually costs less because there is no tour payroll priced into it.
That is genuinely useful if your budget is finite, which is to say if you are a normal golfer.
The catch
Less marketing means less presence in shops, fewer demo days and fewer people around you playing the clubs. You may have to seek Wilson out rather than tripping over it, and you will get less social validation for the purchase.
If you care what is in your playing partners’ bags, that matters. If you care what your dispersion looks like, it does not.
Where Wilson is genuinely competitive
Forged irons. The Staff Model line is the strongest part of the range and the clearest value in it.
Complete sets and packages. For golfers buying a first proper bag, Wilson has covered this ground for decades and does it well.
Putters. The Infinite line has been a quiet success for years, and the newer zero-torque models are a serious attempt at a real design problem.
Where it is less compelling
The driver market is fiercely contested and dominated by brands with vast R&D budgets. Wilson’s drivers are good; whether they are the best available for you is a question only a fitting answers.
Buying tip: Hit a Staff Model iron blind, without seeing the badge, alongside two premium rivals. Most golfers who do this cannot pick the expensive one, which tells you something.
