Cobra Golf Clubs
Cobra Club Naming Explained: OPTM, KING, 3DP and FutureFit33
Decoding the names so the catalogue starts telling you something useful.

OPTM
The current metalwood family. The suffix tells you the purpose:
- LS — low spin. For fast swings producing too much spin.
- X — the all-rounder. Balanced launch, spin and forgiveness.
- MAX-K — maximum MOI. The most forgiving head.
- MAX-D — maximum draw. Heel weighting to fight a slice.
The same logic carries into fairway woods: OPTM LS Titanium, OPTM X and OPTM MAX.
KING
Cobra’s long-running name, now used mainly for irons and for the mini driver.
- KING — game improvement.
- KING MAX — super game improvement. Larger, more offset, more help.
- KING Tec — compact players cavity back. Note that Tec here means more precise, not more forgiving.
- KING Tec X — the players-distance version of Tec.
- KING Tec X One Length — the same club built to a single length throughout the set.
- KING TEC Mini Driver — a small-headed driver alternative.
The MAX and Tec suffixes pull in opposite directions, which is the one genuinely confusing part of Cobra’s naming.
3DP
Short for 3D printed. These irons use an additively manufactured internal lattice, allowing weight placement that casting and forging cannot achieve.
- 3DP MB — muscleback blade.
- 3DP Tour — tour iron.
- 3DP X — players distance.
3DP describes how the head is made, not how forgiving it is. A 3DP MB is still a blade.
FutureFit33
Cobra’s adjustable hosel system. It provides independent loft and lie adjustment across a grid of settings rather than a single dial.
The independence matters. On a single-setting hosel, adding loft also closes the face. FutureFit33 lets a fitter separate those two changes, which is genuinely useful if you need loft but do not want a more closed face.
Snakebite
The wedge line, named for its groove technology. Snakebite is the tour-shaped flagship; Snakebite-X is the more forgiving version with a wider sole.

- OPTM MAX-D — current metalwood family, draw-biased head, for slicers.
- KING Tec X One Length — players-distance cavity back, built to a single length.
- 3DP X — 3D-printed players-distance iron.
Buying tip: In Cobra’s irons, MAX means more help and Tec means less. Getting those two suffixes the wrong way round is the most common mistake in this range.
