The tee time price is only the first number
A course may add cart fees, range balls, club rental, locker fees, caddie fees, service charges, or mandatory forecaddies. None of those are automatically bad. They just belong in the real cost of the day.
Reviews reveal value
Golfers often mention whether the price felt fair. A premium fee may be worth it if conditions, service, pace, and scenery deliver. A cheaper round may feel expensive if greens are rough and the round takes five hours.
Watch for repeated mentions of: cart-path-only rules, closed ranges, food minimums, tipping expectations, and replay restrictions.
Smart savings
Twilight rates, shoulder-season trips, walking rates, local resident deals, and packages can help. Just check sunset and pace; cheap golf is not cheap if you only finish 13 holes.
Spend where it helps
A caddie, yardage book, or cart may be worthwhile on a difficult unfamiliar course. Skipping range balls may be a mistake after a long drive. Save thoughtfully, not automatically.
