Carbon, Ridgeback and Pyramid Face: What the Technology Does
Three named technologies, and what each one actually changes.

Carbon construction
The current Exotics metalwoods use an all-carbon sole and crown. Carbon is far lighter than titanium for the same area, so replacing metal with it frees up mass.
That freed mass is the whole point. It gets repositioned low and toward the perimeter, which raises MOI and lowers the centre of gravity — meaning more forgiveness and easier launch from the same head size.
Ridgeback
A 360° titanium frame that wraps the crown and sole. Its job is structural: hold the head rigid so that the face can flex efficiently, while allowing so much of the body to be made from carbon in the first place.
Without a frame like this, a mostly-carbon head would deform in ways that cost ball speed and consistency. It is the enabling technology rather than the headline one.
Pyramid Face
A variable-thickness face design intended to widen the area that delivers useful ball speed. The face is thicker where it needs support and thinner where flex helps.
Every manufacturer does a version of this, and the physics is genuine. What differs between brands is the specific geometry, and no golfer can evaluate that from a diagram.
How much of this should influence your purchase
Very little, honestly. Technology names describe how a club was engineered, not whether it suits your swing.
What matters is the resulting head profile, its MOI, its spin characteristics and the shaft in it. Two clubs with identical technology stories can perform completely differently for you.
What to ask instead
Not “what is Pyramid Face” but “what does this head do to my spin and my dispersion compared to the one I have”. That is a question a launch monitor answers in ten minutes.
The useful takeaway
Carbon plus a titanium frame is a legitimate way to build a forgiving head, and Tour Edge does it competently across the range. Treat that as a reason to include the clubs in your testing, not as a reason to skip the testing.
